"My sister told me a soul mate is not the person who makes you the happiest but the one who makes you feel the most, who conducts your heart to bang the loudest, who can drag you giggling with forgiveness from the cellar they locked you in. It has always been you."

Ten Germans try to say the word “Squirrel”

This made my night.

ahhh this is really cute

THEY’RE TRYING SO HARD

altonym please investigate this

lmaoooooo this is like the classic issue, I made my students learn squirrel when I was feeling mean (it’s actually quite useful for troubleshooting pronunciation issues but yh)

it’s b/c of a few things, like first of all it’s just a lot of consonants together, second of all it’s a word which looks like a two syllable word but which is pronounced closer to a one syllable word by most native english speakers (b/c we compress the second syllable, idk if there’s a word for that probably), then you add the “r” which a lot of germans have trouble with, also the fact that a lot of germans pronounce “qu” as “/kv/” rather than “/kw/” and like, a lot of the time u get

"sqvi-rhel" with that back-of-mouth R I can never remember the name of

tbh though “Eichhoernchen” (squirrel in german) has at least two sounds that took me a while to learn sooo don’t throw shibboleths from monolingual anglophone houses u kno

This Pomeranian apparently got so upset with his new haircut that he started standing and walking around on his hind legs after he got back from the groomers…for 2 days.

Aggressing - Name calling, accusing, blames, threatens or gives orders, and often disguised as a judgmental “I know best” or “helping” attitude.

Constant Chaos - Deliberately starts arguments with you or others. May treat you well in front of others, but changes when you’re alone.

Rejecting - Refusing to acknowledge a person’s value, worth or presence. Communicating that he or she is useless or inferior or devaluing his or her thoughts and feelings.

Denying - Denies personal needs (especially when need is greatest) with the intent of causing hurt or as punishment. Uses silent treatment as punishment. Emotional Blackmail - Uses guilt, compassion, or fear to get what he or she wants.

Unpredictable Responses - Gets angry and upset in a situation that would normally not warrant a response. You walk around on eggshells to avoid any unnecessary drama over innocent comments you make. Drastic mood swings and outbursts.

Gaslighting -A form of psychological abuse involving the manipulation of situations or events that cause a person to be confused or to doubt his perceptions and memories. Gaslighting causes victims to constantly second-guess themselves and wonder if they’re losing their minds.
